Sean Hogan’s Americana Debut Hits
Top 40 This Week
Canadian roots rocker Sean Hogan proudly
joined the US Americana Top 40 Chart at
#35 as the highest debuting artist this
week with his US release, ‘Ruled By
Mercury’. The Americana Airplay chart
represents the reported play of terrestrial
radio stations, nationally syndicated radio
shows, satellite radio and internet stations
who have agreed to submit weekly spin counts.
Well over 30 stations in the US are playing
‘Ruled By Mercury’ and with
a Top 5 added spot this week the list is
growing.
“To be joining the same play lists
as artists I have looked up to like Delbert
McClinton, Radney Foster, Steve Earle, Willie
Nelson , and even Bruce Springsteen, is
truly a major personal and professional
milestone for me,” according to Hogan.
Hogan, the singer-songwriter, is equally
proud to be joining the ranks of other young
roots troubadours and friends including
Mike Plume and Fred Eaglesmith, who have
also managed to break internationally with
their own unique brand of “Canadiana”
music. Currently, Hogan is in Canada on
tour with the Huron Carole in British Columbia,
preparing for an Australian tour in January
2003, booking North American festivals and
clubs and exploring European opportunities.

Sean Hogan in 2002
- First single release, "I'd Rather
Have You" off most recent Canadian
release ‘Late Last Nite’, went
Top Ten.
- Second year in a row won West Coast Music
Award for Best Country album.
- April saw a few weeks of personal non-career
joy when Hogan became a Dad for the second
time as he and his wife Diane had Tess Alexandra
Hogan on the 17th of April.
- Top twenty video with single #2 "Come
Another Fine Day" from ‘Late
Last Nite’.
- A recording/business trip to Nashville
in June inspired Hogan to release a debut
album, ‘Ruled By Mercury’ to
the U.S. Americana music industry in September.
This went out to the Americana music industry
including radio which has just recently
(as of time of this e-mail) placed Sean
in the Top 40 of U.S. Americana artists
on the format at radio.
- Hogan has played every major Country Music
Festival in Canada including the Havelock
Jamboree and the London Country Jamboree
to mention a couple from this past year
and he can't wait to do them all again.
- Hogan just landed what looks now like
more than one song on the forth coming solo
album by one of Canada's most prominent
female Country artists, Beverley Mahood.

HOGAN HAPPENING AND HIGHLIGHTS FOR 2002
SEAN HOGAN recently released his debut
album to the U.S. market. September will
see Hogan's "Ruled By Mercury"
heading for the AAA and Americana radio
formats south of the border. Industry observers
have said that his music is balanced dangerously
between alt-country authenticity and modern
Rustic Pop appeal. "Personally,"
says Hogan, "I guess I see myself as
a rockin' singer/songwriter with these many
influences. It's cool to finally be getting
a release out to the U.S. Americana market
after having some success in Canada. "Ruled
By Mercury" is the first album of mine
to the U.S. , and it's a very exciting time
to be making my debut there right now!"
Hogan Highlights in 2002
After touring in late January and throughout
February Sean landed his third album's first
top 10 and top 15 hit respectively from
his third album's first single release,
"I'd Rather Have You". The single
also had a video to coincide on CMT Canada.
Then in March, for the second year in a
row Hogan bagged the West Coast Music Award
for Best Country album, also for the latest
Canadian release "Late Last Nite".
May saw the release of the now top twenty
video hit "Come Another Fine Day"
on CMT Canada.
June saw a trip to Nashville which lead
to recording new material with the likes
of guitarist Mike McAdam, (Steve Earle,
Radney Foster, Leroy Parnell) Jimmy Maddox
keys, organ, accordion (Eric Burden, Radney
Foster, CharlieMajor, Sean Hogan) and a
few other great players with that left of
centre affinity. This recording session
saw the rerecording of Your Rockin' Horse
featured on Hogan¹s recent Canadian
release and U.S. debut. The version was
sent with the album version to radio for
this fall¹s release.
Besides the Nashville recording trip Sean
also performed in concert at a few major
festivals this summer including London's
first Country Music Jamboree in June and
Hogan's first Havelock Jamboree concert
in Havelock, Ontario in August, not too
mention Canada's oldest rodeo in Raymond,
Alberta on July 1st.
Also in August, Sean's video for Come Another
Fine Day went top 20 on Canada¹s CMT
Televison Network.
September saw Sean receive 6 BC Country
Music Assocation (BCCMA) nominations. These
included: Male Artist of the Year, Producer
of the Year, SOCAN Songwriter of the Year
for "I'd Rather Have You," Video
of the Year for "Come Another Fine
Day" & "I'd Rather Have You"
- both directed by Colin Cunningham, Single
of the Year for "Come Another Fine
Day" and Album of the Year for "Late
Last Nite." The awards will be handed
out September 29th in Cloverdale, BC.
Currently writing and promoting his U.S.
debut Ruled By Mercury, Hogan will also
be seen at October's "Say Hay"
Farm Aid Benefit in Edmonton at Sky Reach
Center and Calgary¹s Saddle Dome on
October 13th and 14th.
"Ruled By Mercury", out this
fall (2002), will give most new listeners
and programmers stateside significant reason
as to why Sean Hogan's first release to
a U.S. market should be to Americana and
AAA radio.
Stay tuned........
